SUMMARY JUDGMENT IN FAVOR OF ENDOCRINOLOGIST AND GROUP

Attorney James Jankowski successfully obtained summary judgment in favor of our clients, a board-certified endocrinologist and his practice, dismissing the plaintiff’s medical malpractice action.  The case involved allegations of a failure to diagnose and treat diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) and the complications arising therefrom in a 30 year old female patient.  The patient underwent amputation of parts of all four extremities and survived for approximately three years after the alleged malpractice, albeit in a largely non-responsive state.  During the course of her admission to the hospital, the patient suffered from a transfusion reaction, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and cardiac arrest leading to severely diminished brain function.
