DEFENSE VERDICT FOR BOARD CERTIFIED PEDIATRICIAN
In September 2026, trial attorney Paul Nasta obtained a jury verdict in favor of our client, a Board-Certified pediatrician, after a three-week trial in Supreme Court, Suffolk County. The case was brought on behalf of a now 16-year-old female, and it was claimed that our client failed to appreciate signs of a perinatal stroke and failed to refer the infant to a pediatric neurologist during the child’s first year of life. It was further alleged that, as a result of a delay in diagnosis of the stroke and a delay in commencing therapy, the infant lost the chance for a better outcome. The child underwent two orthopedic surgeries on her right foot and was left with permanent deficits in the right arm, hand, leg and foot. After deliberating for under two (2) hours, the jury returned a verdict in favor of our client, concluding that our client had not departed from the standard of care.
