DEFENSE VERDICT FOR BOARD CERTIFIED PLASTIC SURGEON
In November, 2025, Paul Nasta and Loretta Palmero obtained a unanimous verdict in favor of our client, a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. The plaintiff, a then 45 year old male, sustained a traumatic injury to the right index finger, consisting of a fracture and complete violation of the extensor tendon. Over the next 16 months, our client performed 6 surgeries on the finger, including 2 PIP joint arthroplasties. Following the last of these surgeries, the plaintiff was diagnosed with osteomyelitis and was referred to another plastic surgeon for a second opinion. The plaintiff subsequently underwent a partial amputation of the finger. It was claimed that our client was negligent in not performing a culture and not ruling out a latent infection of the finger before performing the sixth surgery. This claim was rejected by the Suffolk County jury, ultimately returning a verdict in favor of our client.
